Mohawk College in Hamilton has launched an honors bachelor’s degree in data analytics and management to meet demand in various economic sectors.

The college says the specialized program was developed to meet the demand for data analysts in various economic sectors. According to data from the City of Hamilton, there were over 3,100 job openings in Hamilton, Halton, Niagara, Haldimand-Norfolk and Brant in the field of data analytics over 12 months. Most job openings were in six broad occupations: finance and insurance; professional, scientific and technical services; manufacturing; educational services; public administration; and health care and social assistance.

“In our increasingly digital society, data is becoming increasingly important to employers of all sizes, but they need to have a good understanding of that data to be competitive and successful,” said Dr. Cebert Adamson, vice president of studies at Mohawk College. “This degree program gives students the skills they need to understand and interpret data, and it gives them the opportunity to apply those skills in the workplace to ensure they’ll be job-ready. when they graduate.”

According to Mohawk, “The Bachelor of Data Analytics and Management will equip students with the fundamental skills and business acumen, programming, data management, analytics, and communication to deliver analytics and data management on industry-recognized tools to multiple sectors, as soon as possible. as they graduate. The program differentiates itself from traditional data analysis programs by focusing on inference from data for business decision making instead of data mining.
